Stormy Tip

Think Again

Washing paint brushes in the street or driveway?  Not a great idea because the paint residue will go to storm drains. You can wash latex paint in the sink, but for oil based paints never use the sink. Instead, wipe the brush on a newspaper, clean the remaining paint on the brushes in a container of paint thinner, then filter and reuse the thinner.

North and South Rivers Watershed Association
Team Leader: Sara Grady
Team since: Summer 2004

The North and South Rivers Watershed Association (NSRWA) is a non-profit grassroots environmental organization located on the South Shore, and is the regional partner of the Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Program. The mission of the NSRWA is to preserve, restore, maintain and conserve in their natural state, the waters and related natural resources within the watershed. As a founding member of the Think Blue Coalition, the NSRWA has been a very active participant in the development of the campaign. As part of the organization’s extensive efforts to address stormwater pollution in the watershed, Team NSRWA has helped spread the Think Blue message through poster canvassing Town Halls and other public buildings, and by hosting Think Blue exhibits at several public events such as the Scituate Heritage Days Festival (summer 2006), and NSRWA’s own South River Festival (fall 2006) and the Kayak Expo (spring 2008).
